Even more exciting than darjeeling
This hand-rolled black tea has a smooth, complex flavour that is reminiscent of Darjeeling, yet has a character of its own.
Nepal borders the Darjeeling province of India in the Himalayan Mountains. It is therefore not surprising that, just like in Darjeeling, the conditions in Nepal are favorable for growing tea. In the high mountains, where the temperature is relatively low, the tea leaves grow slowly but steadily. This generally produces an intensive flavour.
This Jun Chiyabari has well-known characteristics of Darjeeling tea. The leaf is light and greenish in color, the aromas are reminiscent of spicy grassland and hay.
But this Nepal has a pleasantly sweet taste, and not astringent as Darjeeling often is. The grassy aromas are supported by a slightly earthy, complex taste.
Jun Chiyabari is a tea plantation in Nepal. A family business, founded in 2000, with approximately 90 hectares of tea gardens, located at an altitude between 1650 and 2200 meters above sea level.
The terrain consists of forest, bamboo bushes, rocky terrain and flowing streams. In between are small tea gardens with high-quality cultivars, each at a maximum of 10 km from the centrally located factory in which the tea leaf is processed. The tea that is produced is therefore a blend of different cultivars. There is only organic production.
