African tea
Tea traditionally comes from China, Japan, India and Sri Lanka. At least these are countries with a tea tradition where we buy a lot of tea in the west.
At some point, people also started growing tea in Africa. The climate there is fine and because the plantations are often flat, a cheaper alternative can be cultivated mechanically. You see these qualities especially in the bulk market for iced tea and cheaper tea in bags.
In recent years, more and more small-scaled teas have been produced that are of higher quality. Small farmers can increasingly turn this into a good source of income. And it gives more variety to the tea market.
This black tea from Mozambique is sustainably grown, without artificial pesticides and plant protection products.
