Description
Bancha is Japanese green tea picked late in the season. The taste is mild and Bancha is therefore a great tea for those who find Sencha or Gyokuro a bit too intense.
Bancha means "late harvest", so summer/autumn. The tea bushes grow faster in the summer and so there are large, sturdy leaves. Plant stems are also picked and processed for this green tea.
The rapid growth results in a milder simple taste and this tea is naturally low in caffeine and tannic acid.
