The classic Earl Gray tea was named after the 2nd Earl Grey, Sir Charles Grey. He reportedly received a box of tea from China as a thank you for services rendered. This black tea with bergamot is one of the most popular teas in the world.

Bergamot oil is extracted from the bergamot lemon, an inedible citrus fruit. The relationship with lemon means that bergamot, and therefore also Earl Gray tea, combines very well with a slice of lemon.
