Cafetière: Exceptional in its simplicity
The cafetière, also known as a French press, is a popular brewing method among coffee lovers who enjoy a full, rich flavour. Unlike paper filters, it does not retain the coffee's natural oils. This results in a robust coffee with plenty of body and a smooth, long finish.
The right grind is essential for a French press. A coarse grind prevents over-extraction and ensures the coffee remains clear without unwanted bitterness. Combined with freshly roasted coffee beans, this produces an exceptionally flavourful result.
Which coffee is best for the cafetière?
Almost any type of coffee can be used in a French press, but coffees with notes of chocolate, nuts, caramel and ripe fruit are particularly well suited. A Mocca Java Arabica blend, for example, is an excellent choice.
If you enjoy discovering different countries of origin, you can choose a single-origin coffee or one of our carefully selected specialty coffees.
One major advantage of the cafetière is the level of control you have over the flavour. By adjusting the grind, water temperature and brewing time, you can tailor the coffee entirely to your personal preferences. This creates a unique coffee experience every time.
At Van Hilst Coffee and Tea, we believe that freshness makes the difference. That is why our coffee beans are freshly roasted several times a week. This preserves their natural aromas and ensures a richer, fuller flavour in every cup of coffee.
Whether you are enjoying a quiet Sunday morning or serving coffee during an extended breakfast with friends, the right coffee beans will help you get the best out of your French press. Discover our range and experience how artisan-roasted coffee delivers a full flavour, rich body and delicious aroma that will leave you wanting another cup.

FARMERS DIRECT
Some types of coffee are also sourced entirely directly from a single plantation. This is called Farmer's Direct.
An important part of this is Farmer Direct Coffee, which focuses on the connection between coffee farmer and coffee drinker. Direct collaboration creates greater transparency in the coffee supply chain and allows us to know where our coffee comes from.
-
FRESHLY BAKED
We roast our coffee beans twice a week, so the coffee is always fresh.
Orders are shipped daily. If you order before 4:00 PM, your coffee will be shipped the same day.
Some varieties are roasted especially for you, so the delivery time may be slightly longer. In that case, we will always email you so you know that your order is being processed.
-
BEANS OR GROUND COFFEE
Many people grind the beans themselves in a superautomatic machine or with a grinder next to the coffee machine.
No grinder at home? Then we will grind the beans for you. With the 250 and 500 gram packages, you can choose your grind.
You can read more here about coffee grinding and the packaging.
