The Marybong Tea Garden was founded in 1876 by Louis Mandell under the name Kyel Tea Estate and later renamed Marybong (The House of Mary).
The plantation is located in the eastern part of Darjeeling at an altitude of 880–1,800 meters. The area is about 285 hectares and they produce about 200,000 kg of Darjeeling tea per year.
