Cinnamon is also grown in the countries where tea is produced: Sri Lanka, China and Indonesia. There are many varieties of the cinnamon tree, but the most important are

- ceylon cinnamon or true cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum, synonym: Cinnamomum zeylanicum)

- cassia or cassia (Cinnamomum cassia).
